Medium level clouds have their cloud base between 2 and 6km (6,500 and 20,000ft). They include three genera (click thumbnails for more information): -

	Altostratus (As) – thickening grey cloud
	Nimbostratus (Ns) – grey “rainy day” cloud
	Altocumulus (Ac) – often beautiful clouds that can take many forms
